The long and winding road to college recruitment
is a rewarding one once you land the scholarship
of your dreams. Of course, if you're a high school
student-athlete interested in taking sports to
the next level, you'll need to pave your own way
by getting in-the-know about the details of the
process.
To
get a jumpstart, start out with the following
college recruiting sports sites:
National
Association of Intercollegiate Athletics -
Check out this site for current association news
and player profiles to keep you abreast of who
is winning what awards and scholarships. Like
they always say, know your competition!
National
Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) - This
is the official pit stop for college athletics
information. Drop by this site to view postings
of scholarships, course requirements for player
eligibility, conference dates, and frequently
asked questions.
National
Recruiting Network - Log on to this cyber
spot to meet and greet coaches and fellow student-athletes
from across the nation. Make your connections,
and post your stats for recruiters to scope out.
University
Sports Programs - This powerhouse Web portal
contains a database of thousands of contacts for
you to explore and connect with. In addition to
hooking you up with important sports-related coaches
and recruiters, you can also find out about various
training camps.
American
Sport Education Program - This site is for
parents. After all, shouldn't they be up on what
their athletically-awesome kids are doing? Of
course! The site also offers plenty of book recommendations
and youth sports organization listings to keep
you informed about the opportunities that are
available for your participation.
Vanguard
Athletics - Register your name and email with
Vanguard Athletics, and you can post your profile
for coaches and recruiters to evaluate -- much
like a job posting site. Best of all, this service
is free!
