What happens when the GOO GOO
DOLLS meet MICHELLE BRANCH
meets the FOO FIGHTERS? You get JUSTIN on
vocals and guitar, NICK playing the drums,
and HANNAH rocking the bass. Otherwise known
as the Tosco siblings, JUSTINCASE is a musical
trio of siblings whose unique style is welcomed.
And, Justin couldn't be happier.
Although
the 19-year-old, who's currently on tour,
isn't taking college courses, Justin insists
he will return to college someday. When
he does, he'd like to major in music production
rather than taking the 'undecided' route,
which he planned on for his initial college
stint. Justin was
about to register for his first semester
at the University of North Carolina, Chapel
Hill, when the group was signed. But if
his high school record is any indication,
Justin is dedicated to his education.
"It
was always homework first, studying for
tests, and then we'd practice,"
says Justin of his high school days. "We'd
work it out so that our shows were on the
weekends so we were in town during the week."
His
favorite class? "I'm an English guy." Justin's
lyrics are proof positive of his writing
skills, too, agree his fans.
As
for justincase's debut CD, one of the best
songs on it, says Justin, is "Without
You," which features Michelle Branch.
They met two and a half years ago in Las
Vegas, where they played a show together.
"We became really good friends. When
she got signed, she told Maverick [her record
label] about us, and about a year later,
we got signed."
The
question still remains... what's it like
working with your teen siblings? It's no
picnic in the park, Justin admits, but
it's manageable. "It's weird and tough.
You have to learn to cope, and there are
definitely times when you have to compromise,
just like other brother and sister situations,"
he says.
After
listening to their album, however, it's
easy to see that Justin, Nick, and Hannah
agree on one thing -- their music. As for
what the future holds, Justin says, "We've
been a 'wanna- be' on TRL three or
four times, and we're working on making
it into the top 10 -- we keep voting for
ourselves."
Look for Just In Case on MTV's radar in
the near future, check their appearances
with American Idol contestant AJ,
and stay tuned to your local radio stations
to hear the skilled siblings rock the mic.
