Melissa Joan
Hart's character on WB's Sabrina, the
Teenage Witch isn't the only one who's
gotten a taste of college life. In real
life, Melissa has as well! Although she
hasn't yet completed her studies at New
York University (NYU), New York, NY, Melissa
insists the time she invested was well spent.
NewsClick
caught up with Melissa during a break from
the set to get her edge on higher learning.
Here's what she shared:
NewsClick:
How long did
you attend NYU?
Melissa
Joan Hart: "Over a six-year span. I
was [on campus] for three or four semesters.
It was difficult because I was working.
I did correspondence for five semesters,
but that wasn't fun. I missed being in the
classroom."
NC:
Did you live in the dorms?
MJH:
"For one semester. I loved it, although
I got stuck in a triple room. I got close
with the girls."
NC: Did you have a favorite class?
MJH: "Child psychology. You delved
into your own childhood and read children's
books. While taking it, I realized why I
didn't like to fly -- I threw up once on
a plane!"
NC: What else did you gain from your
academic experience?
MJH:
"I try to incorporate everything, especially
math. It helps when you're paying a bill
or giving a tip!"
NC: What was your study-abroad travel
like?
MJH:
"I went to Italy. It has so much culture
and history. I got to see how other people
lived."
NC: Why should high school students go
to college?
MJH:
"It's an amazing experience. You choose
what you want to learn and you expand your
mind. You really have control of your future."
