Have you been doing great things in your
community? These famous sisters may have a scholarship to give you!
Scholarship Serves Up Awards For Community-Oriented Students

The CollegeBound Network NewsClick -- I thought it was cool to work
with my sister, Dawn, at CollegeBound Network. However, I couldn't
imagine being one of the most famous female tennis players in the
world and realizing that my toughest opponent is the same person
I fight with over who gets to do the laundry.
If you haven't figured
it out yet, I'm talking about Venus and Serena Williams -- quite
possibly the most gifted and education-conscious tennis partners
in the world. (Let's not forget that they've both won the US Open
and the Olympic Gold Medal and
attend the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Ft. Lauderdale, FL).
Their recent score? Launch
the Doublemint Aces for Campus Excellence (A.C.E.) grant program.
It's a sizable scholarship given to college students ages 18-25
who have made a difference in their communities.
"It's not about the brand or even the
Doublemint ads," says Dave Kroll of Wrigley's. "We're
really pleased to recognize good students doing community service
and the Williams sisters emulate that." After all, they are
savvy clothing designers, college-goers, and great community leaders.
Doublemint judges will
choose 50 $1,000 grant recipients and from that group, Venus and
Serena will pick a lucky $10,000 winner to serve up the award to
and meet. The contest is open to individuals and service organizations
affiliated with an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
If applicable, you can
be nominated or simply nominate yourself. Just write a 500-word
essay or submit a five-minute videotape demonstrating how you have
has served your community.
Think you've got what it takes to secure
the scholarship? Apply away and prove your community efforts are
worthy of monetary recognition. Good luck!
