wherever... Shakira remembers her braniac
roots!

She
may be a blonde bombshell (okay, with black
roots), but SHAKIRA is not a ditsy pop star.
Thanks to Walt Whitman, a little painting,
and a high-note IQ, this Latin crossover
is transcending music boundaries. (Get inspired
to rise above yours, too!)
Dreading
your foreign language requirements? Or,
putting off that lit' class assignment?
Your studies will help you in life;
just listen to how Shakira learned English
to record Laundry Service.
"I
used a rhyming dictionary
in English, and voraciously read poetry
from authors such as Walt Whitman,"
the sassy singer says.
Think
you're the only one with insecurities that
go beyond the classroom? Not so, says Shakira,
who is no stranger to self-esteem issues.
But how does she radiate such a public presence
of assuredness?
"I
went through a cycle of being insecure before
I was able to get on with my life, and live
in my own skin and go head first,"
she reveals.
Feeling
off balance? Look to your faith, or yes,
your parents! "My parents and Jesus
Christ are my heroes," Shakira proclaims.
"That is where my spirituality comes
from. Everything I do is grounded in that."
Stressed
to the max, and need an outlet? Grab a paintbrush
and release your cares on canvas. "I'm
not a good painter, but I'm able to amuse
myself," Shakira shares.
We
told you she's smart. By the way... Shakira's
IQ is 140 (the average is 100). 'Nuff said!
