The
CollegeBound Network NewsClick -- You won't have your family
doctor around the block or Mom's TLC medicine at your finger
tips when you head off to college. No big deal, though. That's
because you can take your doctor with you, virtually.
Thanks
to MDhub, you'll
still be able to get prescribed cough syrup for your nagging
cold and remedies for other sicknesses. Here's
the kicker: If you have Internet access, you can send non-urgent
messages to your doctor's fax machine so that you can request
an appointment, get prescription renewals, or ask a quick
question. The good part is you don't have to register for
the service. It's
free-of-charge. And, if this will be your first visit, you
can even fill out the paperwork before your appointment.
"Last
fall, my daughter was away at college and asked me to contact
our family doctor for a routine matter. I was put on hold
and played telephone tag; it was a huge ordeal," explains
Lauren Engel, president of MDhub.
Judy
Andrien, assistant marketing manager of MDhub, also believes
in the benefits of the service. "I have a very busy lifestyle
and I can honestly say that I no longer have to call my doctor's
office for routine matters. Now
there's a
better way. I have requested appointments and referrals without
ever having to wait on hold."
And,
adds Evans Emelogu, a patient from Austin, TX, "the process
is a great idea. Thank goodness I didn't have to deal with
answering machine bureaucracy to get my referral."
So
if your head cold and sniffles are keeping you away from class,
you may want to make a cyber-appointment at MDhub. Your time
usually taken away from class to schedule a doctor's appointment
will be a thing of the past.
