Got Milk? Get Money and Cyber-Fame

The CollegeBound Network NewsClick -- You've got to admit that some of those Got Milk? commercials are pretty hysterical, right? After all, that's the goal of the dairy-lovin' California Milk Processor Board -- to get across the 'drinking milk is good for you and cool' message.

To continue on their calcium crusade, California high schoolers were asked to pour on some milk marketing mission mania in the "Got Milk? Home Video Commercial Contest." Among the prizes? A $200 savings bond for college, the airing of their streaming video commercial at the Got Milk? Web site, and a trip to the next Got Milk? ad shoot.

Out of hundreds of wacky and wild video entries, four students from Scripps High School in San Diego snagged first place for their "Udder Letdown" commercial. Picture it: A bunch of teens at a wild house party, chugging from milk kegs and downing milk shots, until... no more?! The music stops, the teens leave, and the commercial ends with the tagline, "Got Milk?" Can't you just picture that ad during a Buffy commercial break? It's hysterical and, explains Kristie Gruhl, of the grand prize-winning threesome, there's a moral message, too. "The whole point of this video was to show kids having a good time without alcohol."
