by Genevieve Blaber
Once known for its precious metals and mining prospects, Wisconsin is turning into an educational goldmine. Students who attend a Wisconsin 2 year College find that they are institutions dedicated to offering precious opportunities and engaging experiences. There are numerous Wisconsin 2 year colleges to select from, with the majority belonging to either the University of Wisconsin Colleges or the Wisconsin Technical School College System. Whether it's attaining a bachelor's degree or the training needed to start a Career, 2 year colleges in Wisconsin strive to give every student the education that he or she needs, and boast impressive employment rates for graduates.

Working Towards Excellence
The University of Wisconsin Colleges (UW System), which has 13 campuses across the state, was recently chosen to participate in "Foundations of Excellence in the First College Year." It's a project through which the UW System, along with 10 other institutions from across the nation, will assess its effectiveness in recruiting and advising new students. Once the information is compiled, the project will create a blueprint to advise schools nationwide on how to help make the most out of students' freshman year. The UW system's involvement is especially notable as it already has a program in effect called "Engaging Students in the First Year," which helps freshman make a successful transition to college by teaching them time management, as well as skills for test-taking and studying.

As you can see, a Wisconsin 2 year college will offer you the tools you need to succeed. In fact, students who choose to transfer from the UW System into traditional 4 year schools later go on to graduate at a rate of 70 percent.

Techies Take the Cake
With over 300 different programs to choose from, and 16 unique campuses, the Wisconsin Technical School College System gives students interested in a technical career with the options in training and knowledge that they need. Students also enjoy the benefits of the schools' apprenticeship program, which can last from two to five years and features valuable on-the-Job training. These Wisconsin 2 year colleges serve up some of the best educational experiences, as evidenced by graduate employment numbers. According to the Wisconsin Technical School Colleges System's, as of 2004, 92 percent of their graduates were employed within six months of Graduation, and 97 percent were satisfied or more, with the education that they had received. Combine these employment rates with the low cost of attending a 2 year college in Wisconsin, and a vision of Financial freedom at a young age becomes apparent.

From admission to graduation, 2 year colleges in Wisconsin are sure to be there for you, offering all of the opportunities you need for entering the workforce or continuing your education.
