Two Year Degrees Give a Lift

by Genevieve Blaber
As you approach the end of your high school Career, it's important to consider your plans for the future. While some students wish to enter the working world immediately, others may prefer to instead study at a university or to receive an education that better prepares them for a specific professional field. For those in the latter two camps, a

two year degree

may be what they need in order to have a successful future.

Two year colleges enable you to receive a degree or certification in many different professional fields, and often can help you with finding internships, and later jobs. Not only can a two year degree provide you with support and resources, the knowledge you earn is invaluable. Having a degree in your field gives a boost to your resume and can increase the number of careers that are available to you. When it comes down to the hiring game, employers are more apt to hire someone who has shown discipline and an increased understanding of a field as demonstrated by his/her degree.

There's also the option of taking whatever degree you earn and putting it toward an education at a traditional four year college or university. Many two year colleges now have partnerships with four year institutions that allow students to pay less and get more. Many students at two year schools are able to stay on their campus and pay their school's tuition rates while receiving an education and degree from an affiliated four year college.

And for those students who may not have done their academic best in high school, pursuing a two year degree allows them time to pump up their grades and prove their scholastic mettle to four year universities.

No matter what you're interested in for the future, consider a two year degree. It can be the stepping stone that you need to succeed.
