 . Although there are many resources available to the potential college goer, using ones that are well versed in the numerous areas you'll need information about is key.

The Internet is Your Friend
The Internet is abundant with all kinds of College information and can serve as a beneficial resource. Be cautious, though, when you're scrolling down Google's page of links, as there are many web sites that provide inaccurate and flat out wrong information. It's best to go directly to a school's web site and navigate your way around until you find what you're looking for. Alot of schools are moving to electronic applications now, so familiarizing yourself with different school's web sites will not only give you the college information you're looking for, but it may give you a head start on the application process.

Utilize College Counselors-It's Their job
There's a reason your high school has an entire office staffed with guidance counselors and college advisors. Your guidance counselor's office should be stacked with all kinds of university information on every kind of college in every kind of town! If they don't have the information on a particular college you're looking for, all you have to do is ask your counselor to get it for you. It's also worthwhile to make a few appointments with your counselor and get his/her input on any questions and issues you may have. Guidance counselors and college advisors are key resources for obtaining college information.

Hit Up the College Fair
Besides getting you out of class for a while, hitting up the college fairs that come through your high school will also provide you with valuable information on a variety of different colleges and universities at once. Even if you just run in and pick up pamphlets from each school present, you can still benefit by having this university information at your disposal.

No matter how you Search for college information, the most important thing is that you do it and you do it well. You are the one who is going to have to live the next 2 to 4 years of your life at the school you choose, not your parents, guidance counselors or friends, so make sure you make a decision on where to go to college based on YOU.
