Indiana Colleges and Universities

There's more to Indiana colleges and universities than just Hoosiers. Although Indiana's main attraction, Indianapolis, is one serious sports town, there are still plenty of other draws to consider when looking at the numerous universities in Indiana.

Indianapolis bills itself as the "Amateur Sports Capital of the World," and offers sports facilities to rival some professional territory. In addition to being the be all, end all of amateur sports, Indiana's main city serves as home to pro teams like the Pacers, the WNBA's Fever, the Colts, and MLB's Indianapolis Indians. If you're looking to score an internship in sports marketing or public relations, there is no better place to be than the state that holds the two schools that gave birth to two of the most revered sports movies of our time. (We are, of course, referring to "Hoosiers" and "Rudy." And if you haven't seen them, you'd better before you step foot on the campuses of Indiana colleges.)

Such a title is not just a draw for the fervent locals, but also tourists. The Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400 attract hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city in May and August. This is a perfect time for students attending Indiana colleges and universities to test out a summer internship in hotel management.

All is not lost in sports, however. Indianapolis has a few notable major art museums and its fair share of locally owned and operated art galleries. Again, a perfect destination for marketing or PR majors attending Indiana universities, but also a great source of community for those wishing to pursue a career in design.

So we've covered sports and the arts -- let's not forget about you animal lovers. Indiana colleges and universities are calling all animal science and marine biology majors, because beginning this year, the Indianapolis Zoo is opening the world's first fully submerged, interactive dolphin exhibition.
