Getting a College Scholarship: Seven Going on $10k
by Elise Zito
Sure, she's only seven years old, but Shannon Lewis of Manalapan, NJ, has already snagged a
college scholarship
of $10,000, thanks to the J.M. Smucker Company and its savory sensation, Jif peanut butter. Get the scoop on this creative girl, who, when it comes time to pay her College tuition bill, won't find herself in a jam.
In many ways, Shannon is like most girls her age. She dreams of becoming a waitress or a hairstylist when she grows up, she loves to dance, Work on arts and crafts, and help her mother around the house. What makes her special is that she also happens to be one of hundreds of children from across the country who submitted peanut butter sandwich recipes to the Fourth Annual Jif(r) "Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest(tm)." And Shannon's peanut-buttery concoction surpassed all the others, winning her Peanutty Pretty Purse Pita the first-place prize -- a $10,000 Scholarship and a Jif gift basket.
Of course, it's not only 7-year-olds who have all the fun. You, too, can snag some unconventional college scholarship Cash:
