Eats and College Scholarship Treats

There's nothing like grabbing a bite to eat with friends, whether it's during a late-night cram session or a post-game victory celebration. But did you know that your fave food joints can also hook you up with money for college? Check out our college scholarship menu to learn what they have to offer when it comes to college scholarship snacking.

Main Course: McDonald's USA National Employee Scholarship Program
Ingredients: Any high school senior employed by McDonald's who demonstrates a commitment to work, school, and the community.
Sweet Treat: McDonald's rewards a $1,000 scholarship to a student from each state and Washington D.C., and from amongst these students, a "McScholar of the Year" is chosen to receive a $5,000 scholarship.
How to Order: The program runs from January to March of each year. Apply online at www.mcdonalds.com/usa/good/people/scholarship.html.

Main Course:
Burger King Scholars Program
Ingredients: High school seniors with financial needs and a dedication to community service or extracurricular activities.
Sweet Treat: Around 1,500 students will receive a $1,000 scholarship for their first year of college or postsecondary vocational/technical school.
How to Order: Every high school may nominate one student, who must also receive a recommendation from his/her employer and submit an application by the December before the application year. Visit www.bkscholars.scholarshipamerica.org to learn more.

Main Course: Denny's Scholarship Program
Ingredients: Students of Hispanic descent who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, can demonstrate financial need, and reside in participating cities.
Sweet Treat: A total of $81,000 is awarded, with individual scholarships ranging from $500-$5,000.
How to Order: The application Deadline ends April of each year. Students may visit http://scholarships.hispanicfund.org for more info and to apply.

Main Course: Olive Garden's Pasta Tales Essay Contest
Ingredients: Students from grades 1-12 who submit a 50- to 250-word essay on someone or something that has changed their lives.
Sweet Treat: The grand prize-winner gets a trip to New York City and dinner at the restaurant's Times Square location, as well as a $5,000 savings bond.
