Become a Money Savvy College Student

by Genevieve Blaber
Ready for a fun Financial read, but not sure where to start? Use this resource list as a jumping-off point to alleviate all your Cash concerns.

"Getting Loaded" (New American Library, 2003)
Though the author admits he can't make you a College student millionaire while you're still young, he does give solid investing tips (infused with humor) on everything from how to shop to starting your own Business.

"Getting Into College and Paying For It!" (College Assistance and Scholarship Help, Inc., 2003)
Written for parents and college students, this tends to read like a textbook, though it's still helpful. Charts and checklists outline what to do each school year in order to ensure acceptance into the college of your choice.

"Generation Debt" (Warner Business Books, 2006)
Get ready for the skinny on big debt and how to avoid it. This book will help you create a

money savvy

mentality while informing you which insurance and savings plans to consider, as well as the pros and cons of buying vs. renting.

"Getting Through College Without Going Broke" (Prentice Hall Press, 2005)
Using compiled advice from college students and recent grads, this book covers topics like applying for scholarships and managing a budget. There are also tons of penny-saving tips and anecdotes to amuse and instruct the college student.

"Early to Rise" (Silver Lake, 2005)
For adventurous students looking to make money without waiting for interest to accumulate, this book holds the key: stocks and funds. The author tells the aspiring money savvy student just about everything he or she needs to know about the two, while also explaining how to start their own investment club.

"Paying for College Without Going Broke" (The Princeton Review, Inc., 2005)
Afraid you won't qualify for financial aid? Consult this great financial read, which dispels old myths about the FAFSA, while providing strategies for filling out the form that will allow almost anyone -- no matter how much their parents earn -- to receive financial aid.
