Be Student Money Management Smart -- Check Your Credit Report
by Robyn Tellefsen
That's right -- for once, we're not talking about your transcript. Your credit report -- the kind that contains every shred of your student money management history (credit cards, student loans, etc.) -- may be reviewed every time you apply for a job, car loan, student loan, credit card, or mortgage, and even when you rent an apartment or buy a cell phone.
That's why you'll want to check for errors, before the creditors come calling. Head to www.annualcreditreport.com for a free annual copy of your credit report from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, the three primary credit reporting agencies. And alert your folks, too (they'll really benefit from the freebie -- especially come loan time for you!).
