Arizona Colleges and Universities

by Amanda Fornecker
Arizona, the last of the continental states to be accepted into the Union, should be one of the first places you check out when exploring your education. Whether you want your studying backdrop to be a blanket of snow, or bright sunshine, Arizona colleges and universities offer the perfect fit.

Both public and private Arizona colleges provide a variety of concentrations, including theater, pharmacy, and accounting. Some Arizona colleges are even specialized, such as Embry/Riddle Aeronautical University, which could satiate any of those with an appetite for flight. Arizona State University is home to over 57,000 students who study on three campuses located throughout the state. No universities in Arizona would be complete without its own traditions and ASU has contests and fundraisers, including the Kiss the Pig Contest.

Arizona universities are located in Grand Canyon State, which boasts great natural beauty. One can take a tour of the area surrounding Arizona colleges by airplane or helicopter, rafting, or just walking. It's sure to provide a breathtaking view no matter how you try your hand at touring, not to mention that the student interested in archeological or environmental studies has an endless classroom located right in their backyard when they attend Arizona colleges.

Also, universities in Arizona have a culture that is rich with Native American traditions, sure to excite the student of anthropology. Reservations are present throughout the state and say much about Arizona's history. Tours are available and one can learn much not only about Arizona, but also about the West Coast of the United States, so even if you're interest isn't quite academic, you can still enjoy the history and sights as a weekend activity while attending Arizona colleges.
