Are You Hung Up on High School or Ready to Take the College Plunge?

by Dawn Papandrea
How ready are you for College? Are you aching to take another AP, or snoozing through your SATS? Take a break and take this quiz to see.

1. Do you know what the following acronyms are: FAFSA, TAP, TRL?

a. Any college-bounder knows the FAFSA has to be filled out so you can be eligible for TAP or other Financial aid.
b. Not exactly sure, but they must have something to do with the Government.
c. I don't know those first two, but TRL stands for MTV's Total Request Live, of course.

2. You're just on this site because:

a. "There are some useful college tips I didn't know on here."
b. "Who says I'm reading it? Some of the articles are cool, though."
c. "It beats updating reading my friend's MySpace."

3. Given the choice between a college fair and a VH1 Behind the Music special on Justin Timberlake you:

a. set your VCR and head out with a backpack and a list of questions for the school's reps.
b. go to the college fair because your Mom insists, but you plan to sneak out early.
c. leave your room only when the popping in the microwave stops.

4. The list of colleges to which you'll be applying consists of:

a. two higher-tier schools, two safety schools, and one city school, after thorough research.
b. nothing. "I've got plenty of time to decide that."
c. the same 20 that your 20 closest friends have picked.

5. When it comes to SAT words, you:

a. try your best to use at least one a day in conversation to help you remember it.
b. hope years of forced reading in school sink in.
c. hate it when your nerdy teachers try to confuse you with them. Speak English!

6. You imagine college to be:

a. a quaint academic setting where good friends can hang out and discuss Shakespeare with the best of them.
b. like high school only without a curfew.
c. the Animal House of the new millennium.

7. The most important thing every Dorm room must have is:

a. a computer with Internet access to supplement research papers.
b. a computer with Internet access so you never have to go to the library.
c. a computer with Internet access so you can chat with your friends for free every night.

Key:

Mostly As: You're cool, confident, and college-bound! Any university will be happy to add you to their acceptance pile.

Mostly Bs: As an upperclassman in high school, you've finally settled in, but it's time for a college reality check -- even the Degrassi crew has gone on to experience college.

Mostly Cs: You're happy being the class clown in the high school halls, but enough to spend an extra year there?
