Industry Certification Exams

Airframe and Powerplant
Prepare your career for take-off. If you’re looking for an aviation mechanic school, the Redstone College Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) associate degree program may be just what you need. Our program is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration in accordance with 14CFR Part 147, preparing you to take the FAA certification exam in as little as 20 months. You’ll spend less time in school and more time earning money, as many comparable programs take 19-24 months to complete.
To ensure that our curriculum trains you with the skills that industry employers seek, Redstone has advisory boards with representatives from major airlines, aircraft manufacturers and aircraft and powerplant maintenance companies.
Many of our classes take place in simulated work environments where Redstone’s hands-on and fast-track approach can help qualify you for an entry-level job quickly. You’ll work with our industry-savvy faculty members who can help you learn to:
- ensure aircraft are safe for flying each day
- repair and maintain jets
- inspect aviation components for problems
- test all repairs to ensure safety
- listen to descriptions of aircraft problems, find their causes and make the repairs
Advanced Electronic Technology (Avionics)
Wire your future for success! At Redstone you can earn an associate degree in advanced electronic technology (AET)/avionics in just 20 months. Electronics technology is essential to the success of a wide range of industries from consumer electronics and manufacturing to medical equipment and transportation among others.
Most of our classes take place in a simulated work environment using industry-standard tools and equipment found on the job. You’ll be trained by working professionals who will help ground you in basic fundamentals of AC, DC, digital and solid state electronics that can be applied across a multitude of disciplines.
As a student you’ll:
- spend approximately 50% of your time in a hands-on lab training environment
- use equipment relevant to today's aircraft
- learn critical troubleshooting techniques
- repair communication, navigation and autopilot collision avoidance systems
- prepare for a range of entry-level career options
- discover how to transfer these skills to non-aircraft systems

HVAC/R
Heat up your career! Residential, commercial and industrial buildings of all kinds rely on efficient climate control and refrigeration, maintained by certified professionals. Redstone can help you work towards an HVAC /R certification so you can be there when people need your help the most. Our 20-month Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC /R) associate degree program is fast-tracked and career-focused, to help you move more quickly into the working world.
Students have access to an up-to-date lab environment for training and lessons in the diagnosis, repair and the service of basic HVAC /R systems. During your time in our HVAC /R program under the guidance of working professionals, you’ll:
- practice hands-on work on small, medium and large-scale heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems
- use HVAC /R technology and work with electronic and pneumatic systems
- learn in simulated work environments
- prepare for HVAC /R competency exams and certifications
