The primary educational goal of the Recording/Audio Engineering Program is to teach the operation of professional recording and sound reinforcement equipment, as well as to prepare the Student for the many aspects of the music industry as we know it today. This will include theory, music history, the music industry, songwriting, publishing, copyrighting, and business communications.
The education is provided through a combination of lecture classes and in-studio experience, with an emphasis on the "hands-on" training portion of the program. Students will actually participate in the recording of musical artists and bands, performing the tasks of everything from controlling the consoles to doing the final mix-down for the finished recorded product. Students will also learn how to do remote recording, commercial production work, tape editing, dubbing, live sound reinforcement, and a variety of other tasks that relate to the recording industry.
Curriculum for the Recording/Audio Engineering Program is designed to accommodate a wide variety of backgrounds. From the young person just graduating from high school with little or no musical background or experience, to the veteran musician who may already have studio recording experience.
