The College of Adult and Professional Studies - Indiana and Louisville

The curriculum and instruction program leading to a Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) is designed to further develop the skills of classroom teachers. Development of practical approaches to educational challenges is a major goal of the program.

Indiana Wesleyan University's Online Special Education Licensure- Exceptional Needs Mild Intervention program is designed to meet the Special Education licensure needs of many state licensed classroom teachers. This license will enable teachers to work with children in the category of mild mental retardation, emotional disorders and learning disabilities. IWU's non-traditional format combined with the flexibility of a web based system makes our program very conducive to the adult learner.

The Kentucky Rank I program provides experienced, post-Rank II level teachers with an opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in the practice of their profession. Throughout, teachers significantly expand their professional knowledge base and demonstrate research-based, best practices in the classroom and in their respective content area.

The Principal Licensure Program (PLP) is designed for licensed teachers who have already completed a master's degree (at IWU or another institution) and have at least three years of teaching experience. The program is a seamless extension of the IWU master's degree in education and leads to a comprehensive K-12 Building Level Administrator (i.e., principal's) license in Indiana.

The State of Indiana is currently experiencing a shortage of qualified teachers and the shortage is only expected to increase as more baby boomers reach retirement age. As a result, Indiana's legislators have created a new law that will enable adults with a non-teaching bachelor's degree to become licensed elementary or middle school and high school teachers. The Transition to Teaching (TTT) program contains all the courses you will need to become a licensed teacher in Indiana with the potential to transfer your license to 40 other states through reciprocal agreements.

Indiana Wesleyan University's education programs in Indiana and Louisville are the right choice for today's teacher who wants to make a difference.
