Our high quality professional training in massage therapy programs, expansive facilities, superb curriculum and teachers, small classes and exceptional pass rate on licensing exams make East West College a great place to learn. Accredited by COMTA, we provide financing to those who qualify, offer job placement services, and hold a broad range continuing education workshops for students, graduates and LMTs. East West College Programs begin in January, April, July and October.
We offer day and evening classes. Our 800 hour program can be completed in 12 or 15 months.

The Massage Therapy Program
East West College is committed to providing a high quality education for individuals seeking to become skilled, caring, professional massage therapists. Our program combines a solid foundation in the understanding of the human body with the ability to create effective, personalized treatments. Our courses balance the development of basic knowledge and skills in eastern and western bodywork with the opportunity to explore areas of personal interest. Our faculty provides experienced and compassionate teaching in a learning environment that fosters each student’s personal and professional growth.

The program includes:
Swedish Massage
- demonstrate five basic Swedish techniques: effleurage, petrissage, compression, tapotement, and vibration
- apply pressure, rhythm and movement to enhance massage
- develop skills inbody mechanics, grounding and centering, hygiene and self care

Assessment & Treatment for the Upper and Lower Body
- apply advanced application of techniques including Deep Tissue massage, using finger, knuckles, fist, forearms and elbows as massage tools
- identify tension in major muscles
- analyze joint range of motion, and apply massage, movement and hydrotherapy to relieve these conditions

Massage for Special Populations
- adjust treatment plans to address the needs of clients based on the age, activity level, setting or medical condition

Treatment Planning
- conduct effective intake interviews

- record notes about treatment session and conduct exit interviews

Eastern Bodywork
Explore theories of meridans and flow of energy, including Shiatsu, Tui Na, Thai massage, Polarity Therapy and Reflexology.

Western Massage
Explore techniques developed in the West, such as Muscle Energy Techniques, Trigger Point Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy and Myofacial techniques.

Electives
- Two electives are included in the 800 hour program. Electives can also be taken as an independent student, with consideration of prerequisites.
- Chinese massage- Tui Na uses soft tissue techniques, joint mobilization and acupressure points to enhance energy flow.
- Japanese Massage- Shiatsu is an Asian bodywork modality developed to help clients increase their energy and well-being.
- Myofacial Massage- A whole body, hands-on approach for assessing and treating strains and restrictions within the fascial system of the body.
- Spa Therapies-includes basic techniques in aromatherapy, exfoliation treatments, body wraps, foot treatments, fangotherapy, thalassotherapy, Ayurvedic and stone massage.
- Thai Massage- A flowing and rhythmic form that uses palm, foot, thumb and elbow pressure plus a wide variety of stretching techniques to encourage relaxation, stress reduction and health enhancement for clients.
- Trigger Point Therapy- Instruction on how trigger points develop and persist, how to assess for them, how to map and track their pain referral patterns, and how to relieve them with safe, effective and comfortable techniques.
