Behavioral Modification - behavioral change
Academics - accredited and individualized
Limited Enrollment - maximize abilities |
Behavioral Modification OR Behavioral Change
Since our consummate goal is to change long term behavior; at Eagle Ranch Academy we use a Value Based Behavior Change Model that has been developed and refined over a lengthy period of time. We have seen it work over and over again, and if ERA is a good fit for your child, it will work for him/her as well.
Many programs operate on the premise that if the child is doing well behaviorally in the program that the child will continue to behave upon returning home. This is a fallacy that Eagle Ranch Academy does not follow.
At Eagle Ranch Academy our highly trained Professional and Clinical Teams consistently test and challenge students to determine whether the program is effecting long term behavioral change. This is done through a variety of methods all of which are based on the students free agency or ability to make choices without being manipulated into change.
Allowing students to make choices while in the program leads to true internal change that is long lasting and will carry on upon returning home to family. Our goal is to return your child as you remember them before they took a turn down difficult paths. Not only to return them as you remember them, but with added strength through our Life Skills Coaching™ program.
Academics
Independent Educational Plans are at the heart of the success of our academic program.
Eagle Ranch Academy uses powerful cutting Virtual High School software called 3DLearn as part of our Academic program. Through this system and our state of the art computer labs students receive independent educational plans unique to the student's needs to obtain a High School Diploma.
ERA's Virtual High School allows students to excel in any course and quickly make up lost time in school due to previous bad behavior. Most students upon graduating from ERA are either caught up with their home class or exceed their home class in curriculum.
Along with our Virtual High School students at ERA are involved in several educational outings that include visiting the Grand Canyon, other nearby national monuments, as well as educational service projects.
Credits obtained through our Virtual High School are transferable to most Universities and Colleges across the country. Scholarships are available for students continuing on from ERA to College.
Limited Enrollment
Each student abilities are maximized due to our limited enrollment.
While Eagle Ranch Academy boasts a large and spacious state of the art campus for academics, physical fitness, and therapeutic treatment we keep our numbers low. There is nothing more important to us at ERA than the personal growth and welfare of each individual student. When numbers grow too large in a Residential Treatment Center setting the ability to maximize individual abilities is lost in the crowd.
Our limited enrollment allows students to have access to professional certified therapists 24 hours a day if needed. This is something rarely found in a Residential Treatment Center where typically therapists are not available "after hours" and students are then left with line staff who are not certified professionals. Our limited enrollment philosophy has a profound effect on students as they can feel the deep and committed concern that our staff have to each student individually. As a result students at ERA are very open about the problems they are facing and quickly lose any facade they had entered ERA with. Positive change occurs quickly and the time spent at ERA is used to maximize each student's abilities to be a positive leader and not a follower and prepare to return home. |

| Experienced Youth Development Specialists
A Team of Youth Development Specialists with a lifetime of experience helping troubled teens.
Eagle Ranch Academy was founded by two successful football coaches that have spent a lifetime helping talented but often troubled teens develop attitudes and strategies for maximizing their abilities and achieving great success in their lives:
Paul Arslanian (Professional & College Coach) is the Executive Director of ERA, and runs the day to day operations along with hands on teaching and mentoring of the Students.
Dave Arslanian (former Head Coach Snow College, Weber State, and Utah State University) is the Director of Admissions & Placement for the Ranch and is closely involved with the Parents and Students as they progress through the program and beyond.
A Team of highly trained specialists to affect mighty change in a struggling teen:
Dave Arslanian says - "As a former head coach, I know the value of having a good team around you. We have assembled an outstanding team of Youth Development Professionals to help us in this important endeavor. As Coaches, we have worked with talented, gifted, but sometimes troubled teens; and through the years we became acutely aware of the need for intervention programs that can redirect and in some cases save a life. While Parents feel powerless, good young people head down the wrong path with little to stop them; while peer pressure or poor choices push them further away from a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life. Our Goal is simply stated - help Parents help their Children get their lives on track." |
| Location - Facilities - Access
Eagle Ranch Academy has a Residential School Campus and access to 500 acre working Ranch.
The ERA Campus (the Residential School Campus) is located on 2½ acres in St. George, Utah. It is a modern campus with over 17,000 square feet of building facilities consisting of an Administrative/Counseling/Medical/Cafeteria building, an Academic/Computer Lab/Life Skills building, and 3 separate Cottages for Student Living Quarters. The Campus was developed, built, and owned by the Woodbury Corporation, specifically for the State of Utah as a Youth Residential Alcohol & Drug Rehabilitation Program. ERA purchased the property, and with minor renovations created a state of the art Residential Youth Development School.
ERA utilizes the "Fitness of the Whole" approach with mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual training for all Students. Modern facilities are available on Campus, while the Ranch also plays an important role in this approach.
The Ranch is located 35 minutes west of St. George, Utah on a beautiful, secure 500 acre working Ranch; and is perfectly situated to provide for the structured and focused environment necessary for the development of important work ethic and related life skills taught by ERA.
The Ranch borders the picturesque Dixie National Forest, and has a unique history. It was owned by Howard Hughes (The Aviator/Desert Inn Resort) and has its own private landing strip (soon to be updated). His personal Ranch House is used by the property Caretaker and Ranch Foreman, but was burned in a recent fire and rehabbing it will be a special work project by ERA students.
The current owners (DI Ranch LLC) bought the property from Hyrum Smith (owner/founder of Franklin Planners), who built a beautiful 4000 Sq. Ft. Lodge that will house Eagle Ranch Academy Students when they are on the Ranch for work projects, special overnight Group Therapy sessions, or "Reward Trips" for fun and relaxation for deserving Students.
The Lake is only ¼ mile from the Lodge, and is used for BBQs, camping, swimming, kayaking, and rafting as Students qualify for participation in these activities. |

Endorsements by Leading Professionals
Eagle Ranch Academy receives strong endorsements from highly respected sources. The Arslanian's and their beloved Eagle Ranch have served Montel Williams, members of the NFL, well respected Mental Health Professionals (Doctors, Therapists, Psychologist's, etc). And, when Dr. Phil's attempt to help a struggling young basketball star failed (he even enlisted the help of Samuel Jackson, Coach Carter, and several NBA Stars), The Arslanian's and ERA were there to help pick up the pieces. The young man has graduated from ERA and is now thriving and a family has been saved. Check out the endorsements and advice of these well known figures. ERA Students learn valuable Life Lessons first hand from some of these outstanding people when they visit Eagle Ranch as Special Guests (see the list and bios of these Special Guests). A Healthy Student and Happy Parent
"Our daughter, Michelle, was on a downward spiral of self destructiveness until we found ERA. All the love and help we tried on our own wasn't enough. Her time at ERA was a true blessing and she has completely turned her life around. Where there was once self hate and doubt, now there is self love, respect and confidence. Where there was once self destructiveness, healthiness is in its place. She laughs so much now and although life throws things at her, now she is able to handle it constructively and with a positive attitude. Michelle sees that she has a future now and is eager to explore and learn. The staff at ERA has been so incredibly loving and supportive throughout our experience and we cannot thank ERA enough. Thank you for giving us back our beautiful young lady and showing her what a blessing she is to herself and to so many others."

Dr. Phil
Dr. Phil Endorsement
ERA & Dr. Phil
Dr. Phil and Eagle Ranch continue to cross paths. Several years ago, the Dr. Phil Staff called the Arslanian’s to inform them that Eagle Ranch Academy had been identified as one of the best youth programs around.
Since then Eagle Ranch has:
• Helped a young aspiring basketball star that had appeared on the Dr. Phil Show with Samuel Jackson, Coach Carter, and several NBA Stars. These well known Stars offered up great advice, encouragement, and incentives for this young man to get his life on track. The young man committed to improving, but when he failed, his Mother sent him via Escort Team to Eagle Ranch Academy. He has since graduated from ERA, he is thriving, and a family has been saved.
• Launched a valuable resource for families to find the help they need for a struggling teenager. It is called ANSWERS FOR PARENTS, and in collaboration with resources provided by Dr. Phil, Parents are able to find valuable help in a time of crisis.
• And, most recently – Another Parent has sought Eagle Ranch’s help after her appearance on Dr. Phil did not lead to the success for her child she had hoped for. Another child and family is saved.
Once again, Eagle Ranch has proven the Dr. Phil Staff correct when following their research they identified Eagle Ranch as one of the best youth programs any where. Eagle Ranch is honored to continually live up to that endorsement.

Dr. Maryann Rosenthal
Dr. Maryann Rosenthal – Clinical Psychologist / Author / Speaker – International authority on family dynamics and life achievement, offers a powerful endorsement of Eagle Ranch…
When Dr. Rosenthal speaks about the issues of today she says…"Our culture has become obsessed with immediate gratification, violent entertainment, celebrity status and skin-deep role models. In order to plant the seeds of greatness in our children, we must first step back and take a look at our own lives and actions.” As she continues speaking to Parents she offers valuable instructions on…”how to raise your family to be resilient, strong, and moral. Together we can raise children into champions in all corners of the world."
Dr. Rosenthal is an advocate for Eagle Ranch and a resource for ANSWERS FOR PARENTS.
When Dr. Rosenthal speaks about Eagle Ranch Academy on national TV her endorsement of Eagle Ranch is clear when she said…"We have sent many young people there…and it is excellent…it is a really cool place." When she directed her comments to some young people about coming to Eagle Ranch she said…"I think you would blossom…you would feel love …you would find your dream."

A Hall of Fame Football Coach
Sarkis Arslanian Endorsement
Hall of Fame Football Coach & Father
Sarkis Arslanian is not only a Hall of Fame Football Coach, but even more importantly he is the “Hall of Fame Father” for Eagle Ranch Academy Founders, Paul & Dave Arslanian (and 4 other children as well – Sandra, Robyn, Shanan, and James).
He was married to Verlyn Metcalf Arslanian for 37 years, and together they raised 6 successful children that have repeated the cycle by raising successful children of their own.
Sark & Verlyn Arslanian are the inspiration behind Eagle Ranch Academy. They showed how children in a loving, nurturing, disciplined home will grow and flourish; and then will repeat the cycle in their own homes. They also showed how to give of themselves to others, and how a helping hand along the way can truly make the difference in someone’s life at a critical time.
Verlyn, prior to her death from a long battle with cancer, was the glue that held everything together. Not only did she support “Coach Sark” in his coaching career, and raise 6 children; she also graduated from Utah State University as the Valedictorian of the Business College with 5 of those children hanging from her apron strings. Number 6 was a graduation gift for the family!
Coach Sark (as he is called by all that know him) was voted "least likely to succeed" by his junior high classmates, and has shown us all how to succeed when the odds are against you. His Parents died when he was 13, and with the help of a junior high football coach he made the decision to be a survivor rather than a victim. For more details see his bio on the ERA Special Guest page. It is a great story all ERA Students get to hear during their stay at Eagle Ranch.
Coach Sark says this about ERA: "I was sad when Paul and Dave decided to leave successful coaching careers; but now that I have seen the significant impact their school is having on young peoples lives, I couldn’t be happier. As football coaches, together they built many winning programs; and they always took as much pride in the character and life skills development of their players as they did the football development. They produced many All-Americans and professional players, but their greatest satisfaction seemed to come from the great and successful young men they helped produce. Every year in coaching they had a handful of players that without football could have been dead or in jail; and now Paul and Dave have a school full of kids that without the opportunity of coming to Eagle Ranch, they would be dead or in jail. I couldn’t be prouder of my 'coaching sons' for the impact they are having on these important kids and their families." |
