Programs:

Medical Assistant Training Program

Upon completion of the Medical Assistant course, the student will be able to perform medical, laboratory and office administrative duties on an entry level basis.

Included in the course curriculum are:
  • clinical procedures such as preparing patients for examination
  • taking blood pressure, pulse and respiration
  • sterilizing instruments
  • taking electrocardiograph readings
  • phlebotomy
  • giving injections
Lab procedures stressed are:
  • routine blood tests
  • urinalysis
  • white and red blood counts
  • hemoglobin
  • hematocrit
  • as well as an introduction to pharmacology.
Office and receptionist procedures such as:
  • typing
  • basic accounting
  • transcription
  • computer word processing
  • insurance forms
  • and an introduction to CPT/ICD-9 coding are also stressed

Medical Secretary and Medical Billing & Coding Program

Upon completion of the Medical Secretary course, students will be able to perform administrative office and receptionist duties at an entry level position.

Representative courses included in the curriculum are:
  • advanced typing
  • business English
  • medical legal ethics
  • medical terminology
  • medical transcription
  • accounting
  • medical office procedures
  • word processing (including exposure to several different kinds of software)
  • and CPT/ICD-9 coding
The program is designed to develop skills to enable graduates to find employment in clinics, hospitals, private medical or dental offices, nursing homes and insurance companies.

Dental Assistant Training Program

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to perform entry level duties such as...
  • four handed chairside assisting
  • clinical assisting
  • and many of the administrative/receptionist procedures associated with the operation of a dental office or clinic
These procedures include participating...
  • in mixing various filling materials
  • taking and processing dental x-rays
  • and assisting the dentist in all aspects of the practice
This also includes handling the dentist's correspondence (word processing), records and collections, and coding for the dental office.

Pharmacy Technician Education Program

The Pharmacy Technician education program has been designed to prepare the successful graduate for an advanced entry level position in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting working under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.

The curriculum includes:
  • Introduction to Pharmacology
  • Medications and their preparation and usage
  • Pharmacy Math and Dosage Calculations with an emphasis on assisting the Pharmacist in prescription preparations
  • The graduate will also be prepared to gather and record information prior to the dispensing of a prescription and assist in ordering and stocking pharmaceutical preparations
  • Anatomy and terminology will be included in the curriculum
  • Introduction to word processing and third party billing as it applies to insurance companies will be included
Upon completion of course work the student will be placed in a clinical setting for an externship. National certification through PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) is encouraged for all graduates of this program.

Cleveland Institute of Dental-Medical Assistants is accredited by Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) and approved by the Ohio State Approving Agency for Veterans Training (G.I. Bill) and the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools (#89-10-1241T, 1242T, 1243T). The school is still operated and owned by the founding administration, which have 70 years of combined experience training both women and men for healthcare careers. Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Secretary and Dental Assistant graduates are eligible to sit for state or national registration/certification immediately upon graduation from the Cleveland Institute of Dental-Medical Assistants.
