The International Academy of Design and Technology
- Schaumburg is a postsecondary, degree granting institution
with career-based curricula and professional staff members who
contribute to students' development in their chosen fields.
The Academy strives to provide a quality education and prepare
students for positions in fields related to their area of study;
to provide students with a professional environment that fosters
cultural enrichment and personal development; to maintain industry-current
curricula that are sensitive to industry needs as defined by
the Academy's representativey board; and to offer career-planning
services leading to employment opportunities for graduates that
allow them to utilize their knowledge, skills and talents.
The Academy is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education
and authorized by the Illinois State Board of Higher Education
to grant the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion
Design, Interior Design, and Multimedia Production and Design,
and the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fashion
Design and Interactive Media.
The Academy is incorporated under the laws of the state of
Illinois and is Accredited by the Accrediting Council for
Independent Colleges and Schools.
ABOUT SCHAUMBURG
The Academy is located
in Schaumburg, Illinois, which has grown to become the largest
retail economic hub outside of Chicago, Illinois. Schaumburg
is also a well-developed residential community with a nature
sanctuary, center for the arts, convention center, over 80
miles of bike paths, and hiking trails.
Schaumburg is the home to Woodfield
Mall, one of the largest enclosed malls in the country; the
Chicago Athenaeum, a museum of architecture and design; the
second largest IKEA, a Swedish based home furnishing store;
large corporations, including IBM, Intel, Xerox and Motorola;
and many restaurants and hotels.
Schaumburg has various types of homes
to fit every lifestyle, including single-family homes, duplexes
and townhomes. Many neighborhoods border parks or nature preserves,
and are convenient to shopping and transportation. Although
Schaumburg is recognized as a center of business and commercial
activity, residents have a genuine sense of community.
In addition to shopping at Woodfield
Mall, tourist are often drawn to Schaumburg to enjoy the annual
"Septemberfest", held during labor day weekend;
and to experience 11th century style dining with a jousting
tournament at Medieval Times.
