Cosmetology consists of technical and hands on practical training in all areas of the Salon, Hair, Skin and Nails.
Students will begin by observing live demonstrations and given specific state approved instructions on step by step procedures such as haircutting, coloring, styling, also included is nail and skin procedures and services.
Upon observation, they jump right in by practicing on mannequin heads with human hair. Students will receive technical theory instruction through lectures, videos and guest artists. Students are required to complete text book assignments and pass multiple choice tests as they work through the chapters of their cosmetology text.
As the student completes and passes their 320 hour freshman module, they advance to the clinic floor where they will work on clients to build their skill, speed and confidence. Creativity comes with each client worked on, as they use their basic skills and add salon trends and personal touches to each client. Instructors assist students through out their floor experience to prepare them for the real salon environment. The student will give client consultations, formulate color and chemical services and perform the services all the way through to completion. Students are encouraged to build a clientele and to recommend professional products from our extensive professional beauty supply. Career Academy of Beauty wants to provide a salon atmosphere during beauty school as it is critical to future salon success!
Eligible senior students can extern at local salons in place of a regular school day to train under an already successful stylist. What a great way to get out of school for the day and learn what is happening in a real working salon!
Upon completion of the 1600 clock hours, completing and passing required technical and practical operations and taking final examinations, students will receive their diploma and have a graduation ceremony.
To work professionally in the state of California, graduates will be required to pass a state examination for licensing. A final practical and written exam is given to ensure the students are ready for the state licensing exam after graduation. Typically if the student is eligible for pre-application they will be able to take the state exam approximately three weeks after graduation.

Esthetics consists of technical and hands on practical training in the areas of Skin Care, Make-up, Waxing, and Artificial Lashes.
Students will begin by observing live demonstrations and will be given specific state approved instructions on step by step procedures in performing client consultations, facials, hair removal and salon make-up applications.
Upon observation, they jump right in by practicing. Students will receive technical theory instruction through lectures, videos and guest artists. Students are required to complete text book assignments and pass multiple choice tests as they work through the chapters of their esthetician text.
Students are also required to pass an extensive freshman module which includes state board operations and prepares you for real salon, spa treatments. You will be using only the best of professional products such as Dermalogica, Botanicals by DeChantel and the medical grade skin care line of Bio Proteins. Career Academy believes that you need to be exposed to several salon products to be competitive and be able to offer a wide variety of services. Ask to see our Skin Care Spa Menu, so you can see the many skin care services you will learn in the Esthetician class.

Students begin by observing live demonstrations and given specific state approved instructions on step by step procedures such as manicures, pedicures, nail polishing, nail art, and artificial nails; acrylics, tips, and wraps.
Students receive practical and technical instruction through hands on practice, live demonstrations, lectures, videos, and guest artists. In addition to minimum required hands on operations, students will be required to complete text book assignments and pass multiple choice tests as they work through the chapters of their state approved Manicuring text.
