ABOUT US
The Branford Academy of Hair & Cosmetology brings world-class education and training to the Connecticut shoreline. Branford Academy offers a comprehensive, progressive education in the basics of hairdressing and cosmetology, while actually being in an actual salon atmosphere. The owner and staff strive to make our program and facility among the best, small cosmetology schools in the country. We believe that our cosmetology program is one of the most complete and full-service programs available. The course furnishes you with necessary training to become a cosmetologist, manicurist, pedicurist, platform artist, make-up artist, salon owner, manager, colorist, manufacturer and cosmetology instructor. Branford Academy's time tested education program continues to undergo development to assure our students that the contemporary methods and tools will be firmly placed in their grasp. And we hope to instill in every student the commitment to develop the proper skills to succeed. The school itself is brand new, modern, upscale, clean, well organized, high-end and a state-of-the-art facility.

Phase I. Freshman
The first 200 scheduled clocked hours of basic training are confined to theoretical and practical (mannequin) work. Student progress is recorded at all times in personal development, understanding in the profession, bacteriology, sanitation and sterilization, people skills, shampooing, scalp treatments, hair cutting, perming and hair design.
Phase II. Intermediate
From 200 to 1200 scheduled clocked hours, students continue classes in skin care, manicuring, pedicures, hair coloring, foiling, hair cutting and state laws. Students work in the clinic of the school applying services to "models".
Phase III. Senior
From 1200 to 1500 scheduled clocked hours, students predominately work in the clinic, completing practical and theory assignments and take mock state board exams. Upon completion of 1500 clocked hours, an affidavit is sent to the State Board of Cosmetology enabling the graduate to take the State Board examination. The exam consists of 100 questions and is held every other month by an examining company. |
