What's a student to do in New York City when not in class? The question should be, what isn't there to do? New York has something to offer anyone, regardless of their taste in music, food, art, sports, or just about any other form of diversion. In terms of architecture, SoHo boasts the largest concentration of cast-iron buildings in the world, including the Haughwort Building. Ornate columns, lintels, cornices, doorways, and arches create an elegance that harkens back to the region's industrial heyday. With high ceilings and tall windows, many buildings were rediscovered by New York's artistic community more than three decades ago and now house an eclectic collection of shops, coffeehouses, restaurants, loft apartments, and small businesses.
