Formed in 1968, the University of Tennessee statewide system of higher education has a presence in each of Tennessee's 95 counties. These state universities provide a range of accessible and affordable education opportunities and highly regarded professional schools. About 45,000 students are enrolled, and graduates number more than 9,000 a year. More than 300,000 alumni live throughout the state, nation, and world.
