Boasting a 600-acre main campus in the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the University of New Mexico is designated as a Hispanic-serving institution and, under the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, is also a doctoral/research university-extensive. Founded in 1889, the university's main campus is home to more than 26,000 students, while its various branch campuses and education centers educate nearly 7,000 students.

The University of New Mexico is composed of a dozen different colleges and schools - each specializing in different fields and disciplines, such as the College of Pharmacy and the School of Engineering. So whether you're interested in architecture, public administration, medicine, or management, there's sure to be a school that appeals to you and your needs.

With an average student age of 27, the University of New Mexico offers nearly 40 evening and weekend degree programs, to accommodate approximately 12,000 non-traditional, working students each semester. For traditional students who are able to attend regular school hours, the university provides more than 200 certificate and degree programs - including bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. In addition, the University of New Mexico offers a few first-professional and associate degree programs.
