The University of La Verne was founded in 1891 to provide a people-centered, values-oriented education that will lead to a productive life. Located 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, ULV is near fine arts, performing arts and cultural opportunities of a major metropolitan area. With an undergraduate emphasis on liberal arts, the university is academically organized into the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Law, the School of Business and Global Studies and the School of Organizational Management.
Traditional age undergraduates number about 1349. Professors combine classroom theory with real world practice; their first priority is teaching. A wide variety of extracurricular activities is available including Alpha Chi, the national college honors society; a ten-week summer service experience; and international study programs in a variety of overseas locations.
Undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered in a wide variety of academic subjects, and doctorates are available in educational management, law, public administration and psychology. Current world-wide enrollment is approximately 8,000 including 3,200 in undergraduate and graduate programs at the main campus. Undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs are offered in several California centers, two Alaska centers and in Naples, Italy and Athens, Greece. Programs also are offered in many business, education, agency and health care sites throughout California. |
