  • Not only among Alberta colleges, but throughout Canada as a whole, the University of Alberta has Canada's second-largest research library. It ranks first in volumes per student, with 5.7 million volumes. The library offers access to more than 410,000 full-text electronic journals and more than 600 electronic databases.
  • The University of Alberta is among the top six Canadian universities in annual total research funding from the three federal government granting councils: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
  • University of Alberta athletes excel academically as well as physically, setting a new standard with 141 Academic All-Canadian athletes in 2005-2006. Since initiation of the program in 1990, Alberta has been among the national leaders, with a total of 1,375 Academic All-Canadians.
  • The University of Alberta main campus and Campus Saint-Jean, its French-language faculty, are located in Edmonton. The university also offers liberal arts education in a rural setting at the Augustana Campus in Camrose, southeast of Edmonton.
