Known worldwide as the Birthplace of Basketball ®, Springfield College has a history spanning well over a century. Its focus is educating leaders for the health sciences, human and social services, sports and movement studies, education, and the arts and sciences. Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, it is a private, coeducational institution offering 40 undergraduate major fields of study, 15 graduate fields including doctoral programs in physical education and physical therapy. An ethnically diverse group of 3,000 students at the main campus in Springfield, Mass., comes from many U.S. states and abroad, with the majority from the Northeast. There are an additional 2,000 students at the 10 regional campuses of the Springfield College School of Human Services around the country.
