Queensborough Community College
222-05 56th Avenue
Bayside, NY 11364
Queensborough is truly a community college. Well over 85 percent of our students live in Queens and reflect the magnificent diversity of this borough, cited as the most culturally diverse county in the country. We are a community of possibility. We offer New Yorkers opportunity to imagine the future they want for themselves and their families, and we provide the rigorous academic environment, accompanied by strong support services, that creates success. As part of The City University of New York, we continue a tradition of academic excellence and celebrate a proven track record of success: to date, close to 45,000 students have graduated from Queensborough. More than 12,000 students are currently enrolled in one of our associate degree or certificate programs, and another 10,000 students -- of all ages -- participate in the programs offered by our Department of Continuing Education, Arts and Business Development. Imagine personally viewing works by some of America’s most celebrated modernists, including Andy Warhol, Louise Nevelson, Frank Stella, Jim Dine, Robert Motherwell and Mark Rothko. You may see these works and many others from October 24 through January 13, 2005 in our newly renovated QCC Art Gallery. Enjoy outstanding entertainment here, near where you live. The exciting 2004-2005 series presented by the Queensborough Performing Arts Center (Q-PAC) brings a range of outstanding performances directly to you.

Quick Facts:
  • More than 12,000 students attend Queensborough each year. They range in age from 17 through 70, with most in the range of 18 through 22. Most live in the borough of Queens, and close to half are foreign-born, representing more than 130 countries.
  • Transfer Programs are designed for students who plan to continue their studies at a four-year college or professional school. These curricula are equivalent to the first two years of study at a senior college.
  • Career Programs combine preparation for a career with a firm grounding in general education. Graduates are prepared to enter jobs in business, health sciences, industry, or government immediately after graduation. Although career curricula are not primarily designed to prepare students for transfer to senior institutions, many career graduates decide to continue their studies and earn the baccalaureate.
  • Certificate Programs offer students the opportunity to acquire professional skills in a specific field. Students accepted in the certificate programs have matriculated status.
  • Approximately 60 percent of our faculty hold the doctorate or its equivalent, as compared to less than 20 percent of faculty at all community colleges nationwide.
  • The College has instituted a policy of mandatory academic advisement to help you meet your educational needs and future goals.
