Founded in 1854 as Ashmun Institute, Lincoln University of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prides itself on being "the first institution anywhere in the world to provide a higher education in the arts and sciences for male youth of African descent." In 1866, this Historically Black College was renamed in honor of President Abraham Lincoln. Surrounded by acres of farmlands and wooded hilltops, Lincoln University is known for its natural beauty as well as its outstanding academics.

Located within driving distance from Philadelphia, PA, and Baltimore, MD, there is plenty for Lincoln University students to do during their free time to enhance their education. With roughly 2,000 students, Lincoln University is a small school, boasting an intimate learning environment for students and faculty. Prospective and current students can choose from a variety of degree programs, including economics, education, foreign languages, visual and performing arts, English, and engineering.

Aside from numerous academic opportunities, students have access to several student resources, clubs, and organizations. The Lincoln University Women's Center provides female students with support and assistance in nurturing the spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, cultural, and social aspects of personal development. With a strong focus on encouraging and educating women to make healthy, positive lifestyle choices, the Women's Center has helped countless women to develop a strong sense of self and get the most possible out of their college experience.
