Founded in 1923 as a junior college, Lamar University is now a four-year institution of higher learning, as well as a member of the Texas State University system since 1995. Located within driving distance from the Gulf Coast beaches, the subtropical climate and beautiful 270-acre campus make Lamar University a relaxing and invigorating environment to pursue your college studies.

Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees, Lamar University offers over 100 academic programs in anything from physical therapy and engineering to food management and dentistry. Aside from its commitment to academic excellence, Lamar University is known for its close ties with the surrounding community.
