As Connecticut's public liberal arts university, Eastern Connecticut State University functions foremost as an undergraduate institution. Founded under the name of Willimantic State Normal School in 1889, Eastern Connecticut State University has grown from teaching 13 students on one floor, to an enrollment of over 5,000 spread across a 182-acre campus. To accommodate the student body, a large faculty -- of which 95 percent hold terminal degrees -- is employed. As a result, this liberal arts university boasts a student-teacher ratio of 16:1 and an average class size of 24 students.
Thanks to Eastern Connecticut State University's curriculum and solid graduation rate, the alumni network consist of more than 22,000 individuals, and 92 percent of recent graduates have been placed in jobs. |
