Columbia College is a private, liberal arts, women's college with a coeducational Evening College and Graduate School. Founded in 1854, the College is the eleventh oldest women's college in the United States. Columbia College is regarded as one of the leading liberal arts colleges for women among South Carolina colleges as well as in the South.

Columbia College's undergraduate curriculum emphasizes the development of skills in critical thinking, problem solving, written and oral communication, and the use of technology. Columbia College currently offers 35 undergraduate majors in a wide array of challenging fields. For students who want to design their own major, the College also offers a contractual studies program.

Columbia College's curriculum promotes leadership through study and practice. We encourage student participation in the classroom, and we foster self-esteem in social and cultural settings.
