Aviva Institute offers midwifery education in addition to training for doulas, childbirth educators, lactation specialists and related professionals. Aviva Institute offers both short term training as well as certificate and a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery.
The community-based model provides all academic coursework 100 percent online, with clinical (hands-on) training in the student's home community, with an approved preceptor, or in one of the many affiliated clinical sites. Because Aviva Institute is not limited by geography, they have extraordinary faculty from all over the country. The wide range of backgrounds and philosophies allows students a broad base of knowledge, wisdom, and experience from which to learn. The staff at Aviva Institute has over 30 years experience training midwives, operating midwifery schools as well as serving on national certification and accreditation boards.
Midwifery programs are based on the MANA Core Competencies, are designed to prepare students for the Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credential, and to meet or exceed US state licensing or certification requirements in these states. Aviva Institute is passionate about birth, optimal health, and natural healing. Aviva means life.
