The Austin Peay State University's 160-acre campus is located in Clarksville, the fifth largest city in Tennessee, 45 minutes northwest of Nashville. Founded in 1927 as Austin Peay Normal School, Austin Peay State University now enrolls about 9,100 students. The school experienced record growth in 2006, as enrollment increased by six percent.

The Austin Peay State University offers more than 50 majors, broken down into 90 concentrations, through its four academic colleges--Arts and Letters, Science and Mathematics, Professional Programs and Social Sciences and Graduate Studies. APSU also offers more online degrees than any other school in the state. The Austin Peay State University promises individual attention with a 21:1 student-to-faculty ratio.

There are plenty of opportunities to socialize at Austin Peay State University. APSU has a strong Greek community, recognizing 15 chapters and about 400 members (roughly 5 percent of the campus population). Austin Peay State University also has more than 100 student groups and organizations, including the AP Playhouse, APSU Hockey Club, Wildlife Society and the Student Art League.

The School of Technology and Public Management is based in the Austin Peay Center at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. It offers Public Management, Engineering Technology and Professional Studies programs. In addition to flexible courses designed to accommodate work and training schedules, conveniences include discounts for military personnel and their families, on-site VA and financial aid attendants and ACE evaluation of military credit. The Center has multi-media classrooms, closed-circuit television for distance learning and a campus bookstore.
