Founded by Swedish settlers in 1860, Augustana College is a selective, independent college related to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities, this Illinois school's academic program focuses on the liberal arts and sciences while preparing students for leadership and service.

Augustana College students can choose from more than 50 areas of study and eight pre-professional programs, including pre-law and pre-med programs. Students in Augustana College's pre-medicine program have a 70 percent placement rate at medical school. In all programs, hands-on learning and research are emphasized. Students can also enrich their education through study abroad programs in East Asia, Europe, and Latin America.

Augustana is an NCAA Division III school with 11 men's teams and 10 women's teams competing at the varsity level. Students can also participate in a wide variety of campus activities including intramural sports, musical ensembles, campus media, student government, Greek life, professional organizations, and religious groups.
