Established in 1967, Auburn University at Montgomery is a public, coeducational, four-year university that promotes excellence in education through instruction, research, and service. A branch campus of Auburn University, AUM is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Auburn University at Montgomery offers more than 90 areas of study through the schools of Business, Education, Liberal Arts, Nursing, and Sciences. At the graduate level, Auburn University at Montgomery offers programs leading to an M.B.A., M.Ed., or Master of Science in Nursing. Through cooperative programs with Auburn University, students can earn a Doctorate of Philosophy in public administration and public policy or a professional degree in audiology. In addition, AUM offers the Master of International Relations for officers at Montgomery's Maxwell Air Force Base.

More than 80 percent of Auburn University at Montgomery students work full-time or part-time, and AUM accommodates its adult learners by offering more than 40 percent of its classes at night or on weekends. Four men's teams and four women's teams compete for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and students can also participate in more than 60 campus clubs including Greek life, honor societies, religious organizations, and intramural sports.
