Assiniboine Community College

Assiniboine Community College
1430 Victoria Avenue East
Brandon, Manitoba R7A 2A9

With over 30 certificate and diploma programs to choose from spread across two campuses and four off-campus training sites, Assiniboine students leave school well-prepared for the working world. The school currently operates four academic schools in Agriculture & Environment, Business, Health & Human Services, and Trades & Technology as well as a number of credited and non-credited continuing education programs of study.

As the exclusive provider of practical nurses training and agricultural training in Manitoba, Assiniboine's farming and nursing programs are second to none. Future RNs can obtain their Practical Nursing Certificate on the school's main campus in Brandon, Winnipeg, then complete their practicum by rotating through local healthcare community sites throughout Manitoba. On the agricultural front, the school provides training certification of applicators and dispensers of agricultural pesticides for the entire province, giving students the chance to work with academic professors as well as with seasoned farmers working in the field.

To add a real-world component to their in-class education, 10 Assiniboine programs of study include paid co-operative education work programs that offer students work experience in addition to textbook learning. Seventeen other Assiniboine programs have field placement or non-paid work components and eight apprenticeship programs are available. Technology plays a key role on this campus. Assiniboine has the highest ratio of computers to students of any post-secondary institution in Manitoba. There are nearly 300 open-access computer workstations available to students.

Assiniboine strives to provide students with the academic and personal support they need to complete their degree. Enrollees will find on-campus peer tutoring, academic advising, career counseling, job and internship search help, volunteer opportunities, financial aid advising, child care facilities, Aboriginal student support programs, and on-campus residential dorms. The school also provides on-campus cultural and social activities throughout the year including barbecues, guest speakers, artistic performances, and visiting lecture series.
