Vermilion Community College (VCC) is a two-year residential college located in Ely, Minnesota on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). Students come from across the country to study in this beautiful setting -- the perfect place to get the hands-on and applied learning experiences offered by our environmental programs.
Vermilion Community College offers a personal learning environment. Students can also participate in the many athletic, intramural, outdoor and student life activities offered by our faculty and staff.
Students who attend VCC join in a rich tradition of education and community service. The institution began as Ely Junior College and the name has changed several times over the years, as has the operational structure. But the commitment to quality teaching and learning has never wavered.
Vermilion Community College also boasts a strong commitment to advocating residential living. Campus life is integral to a student's educational experience, and the school's Residence Life department promotes community development and personal growth. In choosing to live on-campus, students participate as positive citizens in an educational community -- a community characterized by respect, responsibility, and opportunities for learning to relate effectively with others.
VCC has nurtured strong ties to the community, and it continues to value the role that we fill as the cultural center of Ely. The school has been named as an entrepreneurial college, and its ties to business community continue to grow and develop. The downtown Tech North Prep Center is just one example of how VCC works with local and regional businesses to encourage job growth and help bring technological advances to our region.
Students come first at Vermilion Community College, and the staff and faculty are committed to bringing students the best possible educational experience.
