Established in 1871 with only 42 students, Shepherd University has grown to become a comprehensive, co-educational public university dedicated to academic excellence. The West Virginia university enrolls over 4,000 students. Located on the banks of the Potomac River in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, Shepherd University offers a quaint college-town feel with an exceptional liberal arts education.
The campus of the West Virginia university sits on 323 acres in the Shenandoah Valley. It is a short drive from famous landmarks, like the Antietam Battlefield and Harpers Ferry. Across from Shepherd University's campus, students can also enjoy the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park.
