Sewanee: The University of the South is a liberal arts college and a seminary of the Episcopal Church, located on a 10,000-acre campus atop the Cumberland Plateau between Nashville and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
There are more than 1,500 students enrolled at Sewanee--about 86 at the School of Theology. There are about 137 full-time and more than 35 part-time faculty members. About 99 percent of permanent faculty hold terminal degrees in their field. The student to faculty ratio is 11 to one, and the average freshman class size is 18. Professors, not teaching assistants, teach all classes.
Students at Sewanee may select from 36 undergraduate and graduate major programs. Pre-professional programs are also available. The School of Theology includes 14 faculty and 10 contingent faculty, all with advanced degrees. The seminary degree programs include the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Theology, Anglican Studies, Certificate of Theological Studies, Master of Sacred Theology, and Doctor of Ministry.
