Saint Joseph's College of Maine is sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and is a private liberal arts college grounded in the Catholic tradition of education. The college offers more than 40 majors and partnership programs in a small classroom environment.

Some of the degree programs offers at Saint Joseph's College of Maine include biology, business administration, accounting, finance, management, marketing, chemistry, criminal justice, finance, elementary education, environmental science, environmental studies, history, marine science, nursing, sociology, political science, sports management and theology. The partnership degree programs include pre-engineering, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy and pre-physicians assistant. The school also offers over 15 minors.

Saint Joseph's College of Maine encourages a wide variety of educational experiences and offers study abroad programs at over 250 colleges in over 35 countries. Saint Joseph's College of Maine is a member of the International Student Exchange Program. Students with a minimum of a 2.75 GPA can apply to the study abroad program and may choose either a semester or a full year of study. Graduating seniors with a 3.5 GPA may also apply for a Fulbright Scholarship.

Students at Saint Joseph's College of Maine can choose to live on campus at one of approximately one dozen residence halls. Each room on campus is wired for state of the art equipment and services including cable, phone and internet service.

The campus ministry is an important component to campus life. The campus ministry offers students a place to talk about their faith, get questions answered and find a community of students who wish to discuss faith and other spiritual matters.
