Roanoke College is a private, four-year liberal arts school located in Salem, Virginia. The main campus is situated by the Blue Ridge Mountains, within 10 miles of downtown Roanoke. It is the nation's oldest college associated with the Lutheran tradition. Today Roanoke College is committed to a liberal arts education of diversity and substance, providing students with a foundation for lifelong growth as individuals, thinkers, citizens and community members. Conferring bachelor's degrees in the arts, sciences and business administration, Roanoke College offers over 30 majors, more than 25 minors and several pre-professional programs. The Virginia college also offers teacher licensure programs for both the elementary and secondary school levels.

Roanoke College was declared "one of the best in the Southeast" by The Princeton Review. The vast majority of the Virginia college's faculty members possess degrees of the highest levels in their fields, while more than 110 professors are on the tenure track. Roanoke College is among the relatively few colleges in the country to be awarded a chapter in the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. The Virginia college devotes immense energy, creativity and resources towards individualized education. In addition to a variety of summer, study abroad and independent research programs, Roanoke College has developed a unique opportunity for exceptional students in the form of its Undergraduate Research Assistantships Programs (URAP). The average class size is less than 20 students and the student-to-teacher ratio is 14-to-1.

Roanoke College contains more than 100 clubs and organizations. The athletic department has well over a dozen NCAA Division III teams, and Men's Fitness magazine deemed Roanoke College the "19th Fittest College in America." Continually striving for excellence and fully aware of a rapidly changing world, Roanoke College has instituted the 2015 Plan, a multi-step process for the Virginia school's adaptation and development in the coming years.
