Palomar Community College
1140 West Mission Road
San Marcos, CA 92069

Enrolling more than 30,000 students, Palomar Community College is one of the best bargains in education. California residents only pay $20 per credit hour in any of the school's 250+ associate degree and certificate programs. Liberal arts courses are divided into five general areas: Arts, Media, Business and Computer Systems; Career, Technical and Extended Education; Languages and Literature; Mathematics and The Natural and Health Sciences; and Social and Behavioral Sciences. Students looking to transfer to a four-year institution have come to the right place.

Studies show that Palomar Community College students who transfer perform better in their first year at a four-year college than students from other community colleges. Thanks to articulation agreements with the California State University and University of California systems, most classes are fully transferable.

Most notable among Palomar's academic programs is its cinema studies program. This year Palomar Community College students won Emmy Awards in the categories of Outstanding Achievement-News and Outstanding Achievement-Program for work produced as part of the college's RTV and Cinema programs. In addition to on-campus day and evening courses on nine campuses spread throughout California, Palomar also offers online, television, telenet, and interactive video classes for students who prefer distance learning.

Palomar Community College is proof that where you study makes a difference. The 400-seat Howard Brubeck Theatre hosts dance, musical, and theatrical performances throughout the year while the Boehm Art Gallery hosts exhibits from internationally-renowned artists and provides a space for student art exhibits. Palomar Community College is also home to two dozen nationally-recognized sports teams, the only planetarium in north San Diego County, and a five-acre arboretum garden maintained by students, faculty, and the surrounding community. Palomar Community College also hosts a number of student clubs and organizations include an on-campus student-led newspaper and radio station. The school offers academic advising, personal counseling, international student support, health services, veteran support, an on-campus writing center, financial aid counseling, and a college success program for economically disadvantaged students.
