Family owned and operated for more than 50 years, Model College of Hair Design offers cosmetology programs that provides individuals with the skills, credentials and knowledge to work in a career in the beauty industry. The programs, Cosmetology, Esthiology, and Nail technology, take less than a year, after which students are qualified to work in all areas of hair, skin and nails. Graduates who complete all of the program requirements are awarded diplomas.

All programs are made up of two parts, a pre-clinic and clinic training. Pre-clinic training consists of extensive classroom work, practice on mannequins, friends, family, and weekly written exams. During the clinic phase, students rotate between the clinic and the classroom, with practice on real clients and an advanced theory education. The nail technology programs lasts two months, the esthiology program lasts four months, and the cosmetology program is 10 months. The school also offers 40 hour refresher courses that start the first and third Monday of each month.

MCHD offers campus housing and students come from many areas of the United States. The 10 building campus is located in the heart of Collegeville near St. Cloud State University and includes two educational buildings and eight student residences. The school offers a work program where they hire students for part-time positions in housing and college offices.

  • Housing rents are lower for all of our cosmetology students with early enrollment and out of state have is no increase in rent or tuition.

  • Students are educated in Redken, Paul Mitchell, Scruples, Matrix, Bed Head, Biolage, Nioxin, Crew, Zotos and OPI; find the job that is right for you.

  • The school offers flexible schedules, with optional Saturdays and a low 10:1 student to staff ration.
