The Massage Therapy Institute of Missouri is a Columbia, Missouri-based school that trains students interested in becoming professional certified massage therapists. Established in 1994, the Massage Therapy Institute of Missouri's mission is to train students in becoming board-certified massage therapists.

The 600-hour program at the Massage Therapy Institute of Missouri last one year and is scheduled to start in January and July each year. Those students wishing to continue their education may do so on a space available basis anytime. Day and evening classes are available. Due to the fact that classes are pass/fail on a clock hour basis, all clock hours must be attended.

The curriculum includes: anatomy; kinesiology; physiology; pathology; self-care; herbology; history and future of massage; research basics, breath work; aromatherapy; body-mind; hydrotherapy; intro into statistics/research; applied research; case history development; professional legalities; professional communications; ethics; business promotion; documentation and charting; ethics of trauma intervention; treatment planning; and massage modems which include: western; integrative introduction to reflexology; sports; clinical; myofascial; peri-natal; on-site; therapeutic stretching; orthopedic assessment and eastern. The 600 hours of study also includes clinical practicum and a community outreach project. Prior to graduation, students must also be certified in CPR and First Aid.

Prospective students must be at least 18 years of age; submit a receipt of at least one/one-hour massage with a licensed massage therapist no more than a year prior to application and submit a letter detailing why the student wishes to become a massage therapist.

The Massage Therapy Institute of Missouri is located in Columbia, Missouri, which is home to the University of Missouri, as well as other colleges. Set in the rolling hills in between both St. Louis and Kansas City, Columbia is a mid-sized city offering a number of affordable housing options, as well as employment opportunities for students.
